A forest resource information update request is a new type of message, which began its development in the spring of 2018. The purpose of the forest resource information update request is to enable notifications among various data systems concerning any changes related to the forest resource information. The message is very simple in structure and the central element of the message is the geographical information related to the area that is the object of the update. To generalise slightly, the forest resource information update request at its simplest can, for example, describe merely the boundaries of the area to be updated as geographical information along with a single code providing information that the area has been thinned.
The forest resource information update request utilises as many of the data structures for existing standards as possible. In principle, forest resource information can be updated by some of the existing messages, but the forest resource information update request is specifically designed for updates, featuring a light structure and a simple message. Currently, six different cases of use have been planned for the message as follows:
- Inventory tree stand information
- Habitat information
- Use restrictions
- Special features
- Realised actions information
- Proposals for action
The message continues being further developed, and the first official version is planned for the end of 2018.
